Prestvannet student housing is in the middle of the island of Tromsø, about 1 km from the city.  The student housing is made up of five connected blocks with four floors and six wooden houses with two floors, with four 3-room and 2 studio apartments in each house.

The entire facility is made up of a total of 200 rooms and 111 apartments.  The apartments have various sizes from around 28 m2 to 57 m2.  There are both furnished and unfurnished apartments.  The rooms are roughly 14 m2 and have their own bathroom, are furnished, but do not come with bedding.  10 rooms share a kitchen (1st - 3rd floors).  On the fourth floor, 5 rooms share the kitchen.  Electricity is included in the rent for all the different residences, and all residences have cable TV and internet connection.  The residences additionally have shared laundry facilities.

The nearest preschool is Prestvannet preschool that is located nearby.

In the duplexes and block apartments we have begun to replace the kitchen, stove, and refrigerators.  The wooden houses have additional insulation and new exterior paneling.

Practical Information

Information about storage spaces, fuse boxes, and washing facilities plus fire instructions for the Prestvannet student housing.

Important! Familiarize yourself with fire safety instructions placed in the corridors along with user instructions from the fire department in the laundry facilities (D block)
The blocks are linked to the automatic fire alarm system with smoke detectors in all housing units and kitchen, corridors and stairwells.
The facilities have a direct warning to the fire department.
Fire hoses are located on every floor in the stairwell.

Woodhouses – All the apartments in the wood houses have smoke alarms.  Residents are responsible for changing the batteries.  These are given out by student housing once a year.  Fire extinguishers are in the hall on every floor.

Fuse Boxes
The fuse boxes are located in the stairwell on every floor.  Room keys can be used to open the box.

NOTE! The fuse box to B, C, D, E 401, 401, 410 are placed in A, B, C, and D blocks respectively.

Storage Areas
Residents on the first, second, and third floors have storage space in the basement of the Prestvatnet preschool.

For residents on the fourth floor, storage space can be found on the second floor of the operations center (Driftssentralen) (entrance from the back side).  Do not place valuables in the storage area and always remember to lock it.  Storage areas for sports equipment (bicycles, etc) are next to the entrance door to each block.  The wooden houses have share storage areas for sports equipment on the 1st floor and two storage areas on the 2nd floor.

Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities can be found on the main floor/center block, the entrance is from the stairs of block D.  The machines can be used from 0700-2300 (7am – 11pm)

There can, unfortunately, be theft from the laundry facilities.  Therefore, do not let clothes stay in the machines.  Take them out as soon as the washing is complete.
