Ørndalen is located north on the island of Tromsø near a recreational area and the ski trail, and just a short way to the University.  The bus connections are good.

Ørndalen student housing are wooden building in a yard, where two or three buildings stand together.  Near the buildings are a shared house with washing machines and living room for the residents’ use.  Ørndalen has its own house manager that acts as the liaison between SWO and the residents.  All residences have cable TV and internet connection included in the rent.

Practical Information
Information about where the fuse box, storage areas, and laundry facilities are, plus fire safety and information about the house manager at the Ørndalen student residence:

Fire Safety: Halls/Stairways, shared kitchen along with all apartments are equipped with smoke detectors connected with the fire alarm for each yard.  The main fire alarm is located in the outside storage area.  Room keys can be used to open the “window” in front of the main fire alarm.  Check carefully if it is a false alarm before the main alarm is sounded.  The alarm is not directly associated with the fire department.  Each room is equipped with a smoke alarm.  Student Housing changes the batteries once a year.  There are mounted fire hoses in the stairway that reach all of the rooms.  The apartments have their own fire hose mounted in the kitchen counter.

Fuse Box
The fuse box for the rooms is placed in the entrance.  The apartments have boxes inside.

Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities are in the shared house.
The machines can be used from 0700-2400 (7am-midnight)

There can, unfortunately, be theft from the laundry facilities.  Therefore, do not let clothes stay in the machines.  Take them out as soon as the washing is complete.

Storage Areas
The rooms have storage areas on the ground floor (1.etg).  A storage area for sports equipment is outside of every entrance for both the rooms and apartments.  Do not place valuable items in the storage area and always remember to lock it.

House Manager
The house manager acts as a liaison between student housing and the residents.  The manager is also a student and lives in Ørndalen.  The manager visits new residents and informs them what it is like to live at the student residence.  Living closely together can present challenges and now and then conflicts may arise that cannot be solved on your own. The manager can give advice and information. The manager has an office in the share house. There you can come to get answer to the majority of your questions.
