Mortensnes Student Housing
Mortensnes student housing is located in the middle of the island of Tromsø, 1.5 km from the University and 4 km from the center of town.
The tenants of Mortensnes have access to a shared house with laundry facilities, a reading room and a living room with a kitchen for the residents’ use. Cable TV and internet connection is included in the rent for all rooms.
Practical Information
Resident assistant
The resident assistant functions as the liaison between SiTo Housing and the residents. The resident assistant is also a student who lives at Mortensnes, who visists new residents and inform them of what it is like to live at the student residence. Living close together can present challenges and sometimes conflicts may arise that cannot be solved on your own. The residence assistent can give advice and information, and should be able to give you an answer to the majority of your questions.

Fire Safety
Apartments are equipped with smoke alarms, but tenants must take responsibility for changing the batteries given by SWO. Housing units are connected with the automatic alarm system with a smoke detector in every room. Check carefully if it is a false alarm before sounding the main alarm. The alarm is not directly connected with the fire department. A fire hose is located in the entrance to the bathroom.
Laundry Facilities
The laundry facilities are in the shared house. A laundry card can be obtained from the Service Center when moving in.
The machines can be used from 0700-2400 (7am – midnight).
There can, unfortunately, be theft from the laundry facilities. Therefore, do not let clothes stay in the machines. Take them out as soon as the washing is complete.
Storage Facilities
Every room has storage facilities in the corridor. Sports storage facilities are located in the shared house. The apartments with the entrance in the middle has a storage facility along with a sports storage facility in its own building outside. Apartments on the first floor (2.etg) have their own indoor storage area in the attic. Every storage area is shared among 4 apartments. Apartments on the end of the units have both inside storage areas and sports storage areas in the stairwell.
Don’t place valuables in the storage areas and remember to always lock them.
