Åsgårdveien student housing is located in the middle of the island, 1.5 km from the center of town.  It is made up of a high block building with 7 floors along with four wooden houses with two floors with rooms and apartments.

The high block building has 118 rooms with 10, 15, and 20 m2 along with an unfurnished 2-room apartment (roughly 40 m2) with a basement.  One of the wooden houses has eight 3-room apartments, while the others are housing units.

There are new, modern, shared laundry facilities in the attic/high block, which serves all the housing units.  Cable TV and internet connection is included in rent for all residents.

During the spring of 2009, renovation was done on the corridors and common areas as well as the bathrooms.

Resident assistent

The resident assistant functions as the liaison between SiTo Housing and the residents.  The resident assistant is also a student who lives at Åsgårdveien, visits new residents and inform them of what it is like to live at the student residence.  Living close together can present challenges, and sometimes conflicts may arise that cannot be solved on your own.  The resident assistant can give advice and information, and should be able to give you an answer to the majority of your questions.

Fire Safety

High Block

The block is connected with the automatic fire alarm system with smoke detectors in all of the residences, corridors, and stairwells.  The system is automatically connected to the fire department.  The kitchen and eating area has a sprinkling system.

The Wood Houses
The apartments are equipped with smoke alarms.  The residents must change the batteries themselves.

SWO once a year gives out the batteries.  The housing units have automatic warning systems with smoke detectors in all the rooms.  The fire hose that reaches all the rooms is located in the entrance to the bathroom.  Check carefully to ensure it is not a false alarm before the main alarm is sounded. The alarm is not directly connected with the fire department.

Parking Permissions

From February 22nd 2010 you'll need a parking permission to park outside Åsgårdveien student housing. The permissions are free for residents of Student Housing, and can be picked up at the Service centre between 08.30 and 15.00.

Storage Areas:
Rooms on the 2nd-5th floors have storage in the basement.  Rooms on the 6th and 7th floors have storage on the top floor.

The rooms in the wooden house have indoor storage at the end of the corridor and access to a sports storage area outside.

Each apartment has its own indoor storage and access to a sports storage area outside.

Do not place valuables in the storage area and always remember to lock them.

Fuse Box
The fuse box is located dining room on every floor (high block)

Elevator
If the elevator stops- use the alarm that is mounted in the elevator.
This is directly connected with the central alarm.

Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities are located in the basement/high block.

There can, unfortunately, be theft from the laundry facilities.  Therefore, do not let clothes stay in the machines.  Take them out as soon as the washing is complete.
