Full-time students at the University of Tromsø who have had extensive health expenses during the calendar year can apply for support from the Student Health Fund. The applications can, according to certain rules, receive up to 20,000 kroner of support for documented expenses they have had during the application period (January 1st  – December 31st).

The final deadline for applying for support is the 31st of December for 2010, but applications can be sent in the entire year for processing. Support can be given for:

• 40% of expenses for necessary dental treatment (maximum of 4000 kroner)
• Up to 2000 kroner for glasses, contact lenses and eye exams
• Expenses for physical therapy/chiropractic care
• Expenses for alternative and complimentary medicine
• Deductibles up to the free card (frikort) limit
• Medicines on white prescriptions (not including drugs to assist in preventing smoking and pregnancy prevention drugs)
• Other special cases, for example: Vaccines/medicines related to study abroad, unexpected travel expenses for temporary disease and disability, or serious illness or death in the immediate family

Deductible A deductible of 2200 kroner will be taken from the first payment regardless of the total expense.

Important: Applicants must familiarize themselves with The Health Fund’s requirements for the application period and be aware of the requirements for documentation and what is required for approval of the applications.

Application Deadline The application deadline for support of health expenses for the previous calendar year is the 31st of December and the absolute last deadline for receipts and documentation is January 20th. You can, however, send in applications throughout the entire year.

Processing of Applications The applications are processed on an on-going basis after we have received the requested documentation from the applicant.

Support is sent via bank/post accounts No payments are made under 100 kroner. Support awarded on false grounds will require repayment.
