Regulations

SiTo's child care centers are run according to the Kindergarten act and regulations stipulated by the Ministry. Tromsø municipality is the supervisory authority and must ensure that our child care centers operate within the law at all times.

The Education Department has established a national curriculum for child care centers, Framework Plan for the Content and Tasks of Kindergartens. The national curriculum can be adapted to local needs and SiTo has developed a common educational platform for all our child care centers.

An annual plan for each child care center will be approved by the Cooperation Committee (Samarbeidsutvalget), composed of representatives of parents, the staff and the Student Welfare Organization. The annual plan in our child care centers follow the calendar year - valid from January 1st through December 31st. New parents will be able to comment on the contents of the following year’s plan.

Each child care center has a Parent’s Council. The Parent’s Council consists of all parents in each center and will every year be informed about the child care center. They will also have the opportunity to be heard on important issues.

There are prepared statutes for all our child care centers approved by the Board of the Student Welfare Organization in Tromsø.

Other regulations that affect child care center operations include: Environmental health and safety regulations in child care centers and schools and regulations concerning safety on outdoor play areas.
