You can send in your application to  the student child care centers at any time of the year.

However, you are most likely to get a place in the child care center by applying before the main deadline on
March 15th.

All applicants that have a Norwegian social security number can register their application online. When you apply, an account is opened where the applicant can make changes, correct addresses, etc. when applicable. The child must be at least six months old before attending our day care centers.

Siblings of children that have a place in our child care centers who want a place with us must apply by the 1st of March.

The child reserves the place if the applicant can document that he or she continues to meet the criteria required.

Transfer applications are due at  March 1st  
Moving internally within the child care centers in Tromsø (SiTo) can be applied for using the ordinary application form by the 1st of March. Thus, if you are no longer a student or want to apply to move to another municipality or private child care center you must apply on a separate form for transferring before the 1st of March. The boards of the child care center the child currently attends must sign this application. The application for transferring can be found here.

The system is relatively sensitive on the allowed time for sessions, so it is best to have the family’s social security numbers and other required information ready before starting. Remember you don’t need to have a username and password to register a new application. The username and password will be sent to you when the applicant is registered. If you are a new applicant, go straight to the child care center tab and start registering.

Remember that only applicants with Norwegian social security number (11 digits) can apply. If the child is not yet, or newly born, the applicant must wait until the birth and personal numbers are received.

Termination
The kindergarten place must be terminated in writing with two months notice from the 1.or 15. of each month. Deadline for termination in the spring semester is April 1., with the last day in kindergarten on April 30. If notice is not made ​​by this date, you must keep the place untill July 31. (You don't have to pay for July.)
